AccuMeasure MyoTape MT05 and AM-3000 Fitness 3000 Personal Body Fat Tester Kit Review

This is the 3rd body fat testing device I have purchased.The other two: Omron HBF-400 Body Fat Monitor and Scale and FatTrack Gold Digital Body Fat Caliper - 1 pc,(AccuFitness) have been used for some time and I wanted to add this manual one to see if perhaps digital, at least in this case, is not the way to go.I've kept records of my digital readings and when I took my measurements at the same time as the others with the Accu-Measure manual calipers I found that the manual reading was 2% less than the digital ones.I retook all the measurements 3x's and came up with the same results.

What does this mean?For me it means I'm going to go with this one.While seeing the digital readings is very cool (sometimes disappointing, but cool...), I'm not convinced they are the most accurate.Then again, if I'm losing another 2% when I use the manual calipers... why wouldn't I want to use this one?!

In this package you get the calipers and a MyoTape tape measure which allows you to lock the tape measure in place for more accurate readings.Very easy to use and read.You also get a 5x7 card with two body fat % measurement charts (one for men and one for women), measurement tips and an explanation of how to use the calipers with step-by-step directions.

NOTE: it is recommended by the makers of this product that if you are obese, you should not take skinfold measurements.They suggest using the tape measure instead. The one included in this package goes up to 60".

Overall, I think this is a good buy.Easy to use, accurate, inexpensive and a device that I will use for years to come.

In general a great product. It's not an Olympic quality fitness profile and the chassis could be sturdier but the measurement consistency is great.We tested it first with a full and then empty bladder and the hydration measurement immediately registered an accurate difference.Exactly the item we were looking for for the price.

Seca Clara 803 Digital Personal Scale with Black Rubber Coating Review

I bought this scale based on a recommendation from my son's nutritionist. We needed an accurate scale that had weighs in 0.2 pound increments to monitor his precarious health condition. The nutritionist named this brand specifically, and we could not be happier we found one on Amazon.
While I would have liked a "prettier" scale, performance was what my family needed. The black rubber top is non-slip, which is a great safety issue and the digital read-out is easy to see.
I must say... my family hates this scale, LOL... it is more accurate and we all weigh about four pounds more!

ACCUSPLIT AE170 Pedometer with Steps, Distance, and Calories Burned Review

This pedometer is easy to set up and use.I tested its accuracy at the local highschool track by walking a 1/2 mile, and sure enough, my pedometer read 1/2 mile. The clip is sturdy, I haven't had any problem with the device falling off.The leash is a good extra - if it did fall off, it wouldn't hit the ground.My doctor gave me a goal of 10,000 steps per day, so I wear this all day long.It is light and I don't notice I am wearing it throughout the day.

The only downfall to this device (as is probably true with others)is that your stride is measured for walking, so when you are running or doing other cardio activity (elliptical) it doesn't accurately measure your distance.Since your stride is longer during a cardio activity (running), and the device is measuring your walking stride, the distance measurement falls short.However, the actual number of steps taken is still accurately measured.I suppose you could adjust the setting to a running stride when running to bridge this gap.
