Polar Power Output Sensor Review

Polar Power Output Sensori used the polar power meter for a season and felt that it was ok while i used it.i wanted to go to the powertap.after i did, i realized that polar was way off.i know this because polar's website claims about 10% accuracy and powertap was 1.5%.turns out my lactate threshold was about 10-15 watts below what polar was registering.not cool.

Product Description:
The new Polar Power Output Sensor system was designed to make you a better cyclist. This system, along with the S720i, will redefine the way you train by combining heart rate and power (wattage) data side by side. All of the drive force of the bike is transmitted through the chain, allowing the S720i to calculate watts very accurately. The sensor positioned on the rear pulley works magnetically and measures the speed of the chain. The chain stay sensor calculates the tension of the chain by measuring the vibration as it passes over the sensor. The user will enter one time during set up: chain length, chain weight and the measurement between the bottom bracket axle to the rear wheel axle. A chart in the manual will help provide some standard parameters.
About Polar
The first EKG accurate wireless heart rate monitor was invented by Polar back in 1977 as a training tool for the Finnish National Cross Country Ski Team. The concept of "intensity training" by heart rate swept the athletic world in the eighties. By the 1990s, individuals were looking to heart rate monitors not only for performance training needs, but also for achieving everyday fitness goals. Today, the same concept of heart rate training is being used by world-class athletes as well as everyday people trying to lose weight. Polar is the leading brand among consumers, coaches, and personal trainers worldwide and the company is committed to not only producing the best products, but also being the leading educator on the benefits of heart rate based exercise.

Polar S-Series Cadence Sensor Review

Polar S-Series Cadence SensorI have no complaints about the functionality of the Polar cadence sensor, so I can't knock it too much.It has worked flawlessly for me.My only complaint is that it is downright ugly.

To pick up the magnet mounted on your crank arm, the cadence sensor needs to be mounted on your down tube at a strange angle -- about 45 degrees from vertical on my bike. The end result is something that looks like a growth on your shiny frame.

Oh well, don't let it stop you from purchasing it.As I said, it works great. No problems with interference, weather, etc.

Sigma PC-15 Sport Pulse Computer/ Watch " Black Review

Sigma PC-15 Sport Pulse Computer/ Watch ' BlackI've used this watch for over 3 years, and it still works pretty good. Of course it ran out of batteries quickly, but it is logic since it does not have an on/off switch in the strap, not the same case for the watch, where if not used as a heart monitor it will last almost for a year.

In all the time, I've been using it (as a heart monitor and regular watch) I can say that it does not have become "rusty" since this model is all plastic made. It has a very good "o" rings in the battery's door, so I have never had a problem with moisture, even though I have used it while swimming in pools and in the open ocean (just the watch).

I was surprised with the two bad reviews. I think they had bad luck, and one of the reviewers is referencing to a different watch.

So IMHO I will recommend this watch and definitively will buy it again when mine fails... if it ever happens.

Suunto Movestick Wireless PC Interface Review

Suunto Movestick Wireless PC InterfaceI just switched from a Suunto T6 to a T4 and this PC pod works seemless between the watch and PC. It is about 2x a paper clip and with the USB connection it is easy to carry.
Although a little pricy from the competition, if you want a system to track your running and easily monitor it the T4, Foot Pod and PC Pod work very well.
Down side is the software which does not support MAC, come on Suunto!

Product Description:
Ideal for indoor training, the Suunto PC Pod lets you transfer heart rate data wirelessly from your HR belt straight to your home PC. The peripheral observation device is simple to use. First, plug it into your computer's USB port. Then, as you jog on a treadmill or ride an exercise bike, the PC Pod's wireless connection (which boasts a 10- meter range) will read the belt and send your training data directly to a PC. Finally, the bundled monitoring software will display and record the heart rate data in real time during the exercise. Furthermore, you can also use your PC Pod to download data from your Suunto T3 or T4 memory. Even if you're using the PC Pod at the gym or another public place, you can rest assured that the information you receive is accurate and personal. And thanks to the individually identifiable Suunto ANT heart rate belts (sold separately), you can use the PC Pod to receive up to three people's heart rate simultaneously.
The PC Pod comes with Suunto Monitor software, which displays and records the heart rate data of one to three athletes in real time during the exercise, making it easier to visualize the various body functions and improve the training techniques. The Suunto Monitor software displays the heart rate in three different ways during the exercise: beats per minute, percentage of maximal heart rate, or as a continuous graph from the start of the exercise. It also records the heart rate graph for viewing after you're done exercising. And users can further improve the PC Pod's functionality by downloading Suunto's Training Manager Lite PC software, which stores and organizes training sessions while presenting key training data in an easy-to-understand visual format.
A handy tool for training enthusiasts, professional trainers, and physiotherapists, the PC Pod is ideal for stationary biking, spinning, stair-stepping, rowing, and treadmill work.

Garmin Forerunner 50 with Foot Pod Review

Garmin Forerunner 50 with Foot PodI already own the Forerunner 305 and love it except for the large size of the watch when I am running.I considered getting the new 405, but since I already owned the foot pod and I actually like the larger unit (read as "larger screen")of the 305 while on the bike, I decided to just add to my current system with the Garmin 50.The GPS function of the 305 is nice, but while I tend to explore on the road bike I also tend to travel the same routes over and over while running, so the GPS functions are not really necessary. The Garmin 50 is super light and perfect for running. Via the ANT stick it will update Garmin Connect (the on-line training record) and Garmin Training Center automatically, so they are always synched. The display is small and only displays two pieces of info at on time, such as heart rate and distance or distance and pace, but I find that's all I usually need and I can check the rest of the info at the end of the workout.I tested the foot pod distance readings against a known distance and the 305's GPS reading, and it was accurate out of the box and did not require calibration.

The only problems I have had are that the date that the watch records for workouts is 7 days off and, according to Garmin, cannot be corrected. The date on the Time Display is correct, though, so it's still accurate as a watch, and the date shows up correctly when you upload the workout to Garmin Training Center.I'm sure they will fix this glitch in the future, but it's a minor irritation. This is a great unit.

Suunto Wrist-Top Computer Watch Suunto Wrist-Top Computer Watch Replacement Battery Kit (Moquito and D3) Review

Suunto Wrist-Top Computer Watch Suunto Wrist-Top Computer Watch Replacement Battery KitVery easy to install and works great! The only issue I had was to take the old battery out - yes it should be very easy with a coin, but even after I turned the cover 45 degrees, it did not pop-up (it was kinda frozen in) and I spent really a lot of time trying to get it out (once I got the old cover, ring and battery out, it was matter of few seconds to put new battery and cover in).

I just don't get that Suunto does not make this watch anymore. I love it !

GPS Sensor by Polar Review

GPS Sensor by PolarI was a bit concerned about this item when I read the problems that some people had experienced using this accessory. Problems with battery voltage and turning off after a short time. I ran a 6 mile run with it and there was no record of the run when I returned. The documentation gave the impression that the GPS unit would be already matched to my RS800cx Polar watch. I went through the matching procedure again and ran 7 miles through Boston Common and along the Charles River (on vacation). This time the the .gpx file opened in Google Earth and showed the whole run accurately covering the path that I had taken. I have used the same AA battery for the 3 runs used to date with no problems.
